The Office of Resource Development is dedicated to advancing the mission of MIT by fostering relationships that result in continuing goodwill and financial support from alumni, friends, and organizations. The Office of Global Initiatives (OGI) engages and supports individuals living outside of the U.S. capable of making gifts of $5 million and above. Working in close collaboration with faculty, senior administrators, colleagues within RD, the Alumni Association, and school, program, and project fundraisers, OGI creates and implements the Institute?s global funding and relationship strategy.
Associate Director, OGI: As a frontline principal gift fundraiser and advocate of the Institute, the Associate Director will: grow and strengthen MIT?s relationships with alumni, parents, friends, and organizations internationally; manage a portfolio of approximately 100 prospects and determine the best strategy for cultivation and solicitation for each prospect, including the involvement of faculty, deans, volunteers, or other Institute leaders in those efforts; have primary responsibility for raising philanthropic funds; be part of the team creating and implementing effective strategies for: international market development; donor development; promotion of MIT?s global interests; resource allocation; and, volunteer recruitment, engagement, and support.
Requirements include: highly experienced fundraising professional (8+ years), with success raising principal-level gifts; extensive international experience (ideally in Asia and/or Latin America) and knowledge of one or more foreign languages strongly preferred; track record of effective and strategic partnerships with leadership, faculty and/or physicians, alumni or constituents, and fundraising colleagues in a complex higher education institution, academic medical center, or other research-intensive institution; poise, confidence, and credibility to engage and support the Institute?s diverse leaders, volunteers, donors, and prospects; highly attuned cultural sensitivity; transparent and collaborative team member who thrives in a workplace that strongly values diversity, creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit. This role requires international travel, at times for extensive periods; candidates must be willing and able to travel. BA required, advanced degree preferred.
