Spice brings India's cheapest Android phone with front camera

Spice has launched yet another low cost Android phone in India. At Rs 5,123, Spice Mi280 is perhaps the cheapest Android handset currently available in India. And, it has pretty impressive specifications.

Spice Mi280 features a 2.8 inch resistive touchscreen with 320 x 240 pixel resolution. The phone is based on Android 2.3 Gingerbread on a 650 MHz processor along with a 200 MHz GPU and 512 MB RAM.

The phone supports 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity. It comes with a 3.2 megapixel rear camera and VGA front camera for video calling. Other features include GPS, A-GPS, proximity sensor, push email, Gtalk, and 32 GB expandable memory.

Spice Mi280 has a 1000 mAh battery, which claims to offer around 2 hours of talk time on 3G and 4 days of standby time, which we doubt will actually be the case. The smartphone has a navigation pad as well as a call receive and end button apart from the usual four touch sensitive Android keys.

While the phones' specifications are nothing to rave about, the price at which it is available certainly makes it worthy of being considered. We will soon carry the phone's review and will reserve our final verdict till then.

Spice Mi280 follows the launch of dual SIM device Mi350n and the cheapest dual SIM Android phone Spice Mi270.
