North High School Band Marches in Washington Parade

It's a time honored tradition drawing in hundreds of thousands of people to the nation's capital. The National Independence Day Parade features nearly 30 bands from across the country, and this year Indiana was represented in full force.

For the members of Evansville North High School's "Green Brigade" band, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity.

"Having that feeling of performing at our nation's capital," said North student Kandice Brinker, "it just excites me so much."

Kandice is an upcoming Senior, and the chance to perform in the parade gives her so much pride.

"It really feels good to support our country and be doing this with the parade," said Brinker.

Other members feel the same way.

"I feel like me, as a single person, i feel special," said Senior Zach Krietemeyer, "but as a band, I feel like it's an honor to be here."

But for one member, it's an honor that he holds especially close to his heart. An opinion that the "Green Brigade" shares with hundreds of thousands of people from across the country as they come together and celebrate our nation's independence.
