Which? Magazine has turned its fire on Claims Management Companies. They have surveyed 2000 people, a quarter of whom apparently were not aware that those, like us, who act on their behalf to secure a refund for a mis-sold Payment Protection Insurance Policy (PPI) will take a cut of their claim. It would seem that insult is being added to injury by some of our competitors who are hiding their costs from clients.

This is a real bug bear for us here at Total Reclaim. We absolutely pride ourselves on being ethical and upfront about the services we offer. Our Total Reclaim home page for instance makes it clear in two separate places that we charge for our services, and it tells our prospective clients exactly how much we charge too. There are companies out there who charge up to 40% for handling claims for clients who have been mis-sold PPI. We think that is wrong and they give the industry a bad name.

We will consistently say (like in thisblog for instance) that people are perfectly free to make their own claims. But in our experience most people don?t have the time or the inclination to complete the paperwork and what they really want is for someone else to take the strain, and that is where we can step in.

It is true that we have to charge, because it costs us money to rent, heat and light our office, pay our expert financial advisers to assess each claims and identify whether mis-selling has occurred, we need to make lots of phone calls and send detailed correspondence on behalf of our clients?so obviously we cannot do it for free.

We don?t make cold-call phone calls, we don?t send texts and letters to people who are not expecting to hear from us and we take our cases through referrals from financial advisers who have identified victims of mis-selling through their work with them individually, or else we hear directly from people who have sought us out themselves.

In our experience, people who have been cheated by banks and loans companies into taking a policy that could never apply to them, people who have lost thousands of pounds by not reading the small print (or having it read to them) don?t always trust themselves to understand the claim process either. They want an ethical, expert team to work through the detail on their behalf to make sure that the wrong is put right.

So whilst we agree with Which? Magazine that there are unscrupulous claims companies out there, along with ambulance chasers and all the other people who prey on the unsuspecting and the unfortunate, we would like to reassure you that Total Reclaim will only have your interests at heart.

If you have paid for a PPI policy in the past and you believe you were mis-sold, and you are comfortable and confident about claiming the money back yourself, good for you, go for it! But if you need help with your claim, do please call Total Reclaim 0800 915 2998 or contact us online at Total Reclaim and say you read our blog.
